August Favorites

It's probably a bit late to do this, but I want to do it anyway. This is also a good way to keep track of everything that I loved throughout the year, if I ever want to look back. Let's get started!

I got this from my trip to Jakarta last holiday. I've been obsessing over platform shoes and wanted to have one for the longest time. So I couldn't pass these awesome espadrilles. Such a classic (with a twist).

Again, I bought this when I was in Jakarta. Mom and I were buying makeups for grandma and I couldn't put this down. Before this I already wanted to buy this particular color but I convinced myself that I don't need another lipsticks. But this time I just had to have it!

I've been changing my breakfast (and sometimes dinner) to smoothies last month. Although it's a small change, but I feel healthier already. I don't know if it's my mind, but I do! Changing your breakfast to healthier food does not only make you healthy but also making your tummy flat! Gotta love the tummy!

Some people might find this movie disgusting. I do too, but I can put that aside because this movie is just too good. If you love the old Mad Max movie, you'll definitely love this one too! Plus, you'll want to see Charlize Theron as this badass chick.

Another thing that I love to watch this month is the series 'Chicago Fire'. When I saw the ad all over my TV, I thought why would people want to watch firemen's love life. Because that's practically the ad said about this series (lesson: never judge a movie/ series based on ads, judge them based on ratings :p). One day I decided to watch one episode and BOOM! I'm attached to this. This series makes me want to be a firefighter because they're so awesome and heroic. I know that's unrealistic but if I have another chance in another life, I would be a firefighter (not that I believe in reincarnation, I don't know why I said that). And yes, there's a glimpse of their love life too. Maybe more than a glimpse, but still, it's soooooo gooooodddd!

Last but not least, a book. 'It's Kind of a Funny Story' by Ned Vizzini is such a good book that it makes me questioned why I had just discovered this. I'm not going to give any plot because I'm not good at it, so if you want you can just read it on Goodreads. This book was made into movie, so after you finished reading this book, immediately watch the movie. If you haven't read this, read it NOW!

The Pale Blue Dot by Carl Sagan

“Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there-on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot.

Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.

The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.

It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.”

Vanille

Hey guys!

So sorry I haven't post in a while. I'm out of ideas recently, and didn't feel inspired at all.

In today's post, I want to share with you guys my favourite scent (EVER!). You probably guessed it already, it's vanilla! Ever since mom bought a vanilla scented perfume, I fell in love with it too. When mom, grandma and I went to L'Occitane last time, I spotted this perfume and the smell is unbelievable! It's so warm and so vanilla (obviously). I can't put it down (plus it's the last perfume on the counter). I know I don't need more perfumes, but I just can't get over the scent.

The candle is from Bath & Body Works, and it's also vanilla scented candle. I love burning scented candles before bed or when I'm lounging on my bed, reading magazines and books.

Anyways, I promise I'll try to be more active and post more......posts. 'Till then! xx

Read: The Death Cure

Hey guys!

Today's post is going to be a bit different. I'm going to say little things about this book, not too much though, as I'm not that good at describing a book. Actually, at describing anything. I'll try my best.

If you're familiar with the movie "Maze Runner", you probably know about this book. The movie was an adaptation from the book series by James Dashner, "The Maze Runner Series". This book was so good I couldn't put it down. It wraps the whole trilogy and its adventure. If you ever had any questions about the story, this book is the answer.

If you love dystopian stories as I much as I do (which is A LOT!), you have to read the trilogy. It also had a bit of romance, a whole lot of friendship stories, adventures, and definitely violence. But you know, what's a dystopian without its action scenes, right?

Anyway, I give this book 4.5/5. I apologise for the random things in my blog, I just wanted to share things that I love with all of you. I'll try to put more fashion as it's my biggest interest. But you know, a random post here and there wouldn't hurt anyone ;)

Lots of love! xx

Rock N Roll High School

I always adore Riff Randell from the movie "Rock N Roll High School". Every single thing that she wore (the leather jacket and ripped jeans combo were my favourite, definitely) were screaming Rock N Roll. You guys should watch it too! Her spirit and passion for Rock N Roll (especially The Ramones) are super contagious.

I love how this skirt is ripped on the edges and of course, it's black. It reminds me of a school uniform. I added a pair of studded oxford shoes for and extra touch to this 'high school uniform' kinda look.

Hope you'll get inspired! xx

PS: Here's Riff dancing to the Ramones! \m/

Skater Kid

Hey guys!

I don't know how to describe these photos, honestly... But I'll try.

My little brother has these skateboard rack hanging in his room. I thought it'll look cool with my favourite flannel. So I took my shirt and hung it there.

That is it. I'm so sorry for this super short post.

xx.

Vintage

As I made my morning coffee in one of my favourite mugs today, I was wondering why I like to use this mug so damn much. Even my baby cousin likes to use it too (she's not really a baby, but you know, she's 3 and she's the youngest, so...). So I said to my mom (yes, out of the blue) why I like it:

Me: I like it 'cause the picture on it looks vintage, with the porcelain blue colour and everything.
Mom: It IS vintage! It was my grandmother's.
Me: No way! I should keep it away from now on, before Abby (my baby cousin) broke it.

No, I haven't keep it, I probably will if my grandma didn't have any back ups. I'll have to ask her, soon...

To keep up with the vintage theme, I put this ring and bracelet, both are vintage and from my mom. The ring was my mom's and the bracelet was my aunt's which later she gave to my mom, and now she gave it to me. Fyi, the colour of the ring's stone is ruby red, not pink. I don't know why in the photos it looks pink.

'Till next time! xx
